Anime Day!

Earl and Fairy

This weekend I watched through Earl and Fairy. I loved the character design and the fantasy aspect of this show. I especially loved the Victorian dresses and the fairy designs. This show is about Lydia Carlton who is a Fairy Doctor. She can see and communicate with Fairies. By chance she meets Edgar J.C Ashenbert, and from there the story takes off. She helps him claim the title of "Earl of the Blue Knights" which is a supernatural title given to the liaison between Fairy and the Queen of England. This show is beautiful and while the story may be a little light on plot due to it being so short I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Book Sidenote

Going Postal
This was the book that got me into Terry Pratchett. The dry wit and absolute hilarity of this is a perfect mix. I absolutely love this book.

Moist Von Lipwig, con man, is given a choice. Run the post office or die for his various crimes. Getting the Post Office running is no small task. Especially with the aid of Groat, an aging Junior Postman, and Stanley, raised by peas.

Please give this book a chance. I loved it, and hope you will too.

Cooking Day and DIY Update

I keep watching cooking animes, and every time I find something that I want to eat. This time I got a serious craving for Okonomiyaki. Okonomiyaki is like the japanese equivalent to to pizza. It's a cabbage pancake with various topping. I prefer mine in the Osaka style which is the kind without noodles.

Enjoy after the jump.

DIY Rant

Who knew that pulling up a carpet and taking out the tack strips would be so much work? Certainly I didn't this morning when I endeavored to remove the most hideous hall carpet known to man. Since then I have found hardwood floor, which I am pleased about. I have broken two nails, and my feet/whole body is killing me! Maybe I'll just leave the bedroom carpeting where it is now that I've had this little experience :*(

Anime Day!

I just watched Chance Pop Session today. This show is great for a marathon afternoon. It's short, only 13 episodes, but each one is better than the next. It's about 3 girls who were separated at birth. They have a chance meeting at a concert for their idol Reika. At the concert each of the girls get an application for the same music school Reika graduated from. Eventually they learn they're related. I can't say any more or I'd spoil it. I really recommend this to the shojo fans. :D
The music stuck with me so much I just ordered the CD! I cannot say how much I am loving this show right now.
Manga Sidenote

As you know I've been watching Yumeiro Patissiere. I am in total LOVE with that show. I recently found a manga that reminds me a lot of it called Kitchen Princess. This is seriously one of the best Shojo mangas I've read this year. Najika Kazami, has a special talent. She can recreate any dish that she tastes perfectly from memory. Not only is the art so cute the food looks delicious! There's even recipes for some of the things prepared in each chapter. YUM! Please read this manga :D

What I'm up to

I've been on an anime binge lately. Any chance I get I've been trying to finish off the seasons that won't die. The first example of this is me trying to watch bleach from the beginning T_T I don't think I'll ever win that battle.... I've also begun Inu Yasha. At least it's not airing anymore so I don't have to keep up with new episodes. ^-^;; Thanks for little miracles.
I'm still going through Cardcaptor Sakura, Ojamajo Doremi, and Yumeiro Patissiere. Something new to the mix though is Uraboku. I'm watching it on Crunchyroll and really love it. The end is near and I'm really hoping for a good finish. It reminds me a lot of X or Tokyo Babylon.

I'm working on some new sweets recipes so stay tuned for something yummy.
That's it right now except for some K-dramas I've been eyeing. I'm not sure if I'll pick them up, but it's so tempting. ♥

AnimondayYumeiro Patissiere
I just started watching this on crunchyroll and dropped everything else to watch. This is such a cute show! I cant believe how much I'm enjoying it. It's about a girl named Amano Ichigo. She is incredably clutzy, but had an amazing palate. She transfers to St Marie Acadamy to follow her dream of becoming a pattissere like her grandmother. I highly suggest this series. If you have crunchyroll please watch this.

Will update with our regularly scheduled Animonday later today.

DIY Wendsday

Hime Lampshade
Items needed:
Old lampshade
Hot glue gun

I rescued this old lamp from the garbage a few months ago. I had to redo the light kit and most of the wiring inside it. I finally finished the lamp, but I had no lampshade for it. Last week I was on my walk and spotted this old beaten up partially melted lampshade. It still had good bones to it so I decided to fix it up.

I started by gluing lace around the top. This helped hide the melted part where at one point a bulb had burned the lampshade. It also helped cover the fraying gold cording.

Then I glued on pearls to cover the edge of the lace.
I glued lace on the bottom, and covered the edge with ribbon. This hid a burn on the bottom edge and more torn gold edging.
Finally I capped it off with pearls along the bottom.

I hope that you enjoyed my lampshade restoration, and that it inspires you to recycle and reuse old items. I personally enjoy rehabbing old furniture and household items into something new.

No Animonday this week ^-^;; I still haven't finished last week's series. Look forward to next week with Death Note, Monster, and Jigoku Shojo

Cooking Day

Chamomile Ginger Tea with Cucumber Watercress Sandwiches

This meal is perfect for high tea, or just a healthy lunch. It has a very refreshing and sweet taste.

To make the tea you need:
1 TBS Loose Chamomile tea
1 tsp Fresh or Frozen crushed ginger
1 or 2 TBS Honey
a tea ball
Both ingredients in the tea also have known special qualities. Chamomile has a calming effect, and when tested with rats it had and anti anxiety effect. Ginger has been used as a medicine in eastern medicine for centuries. I personally enjoy it's effects when I get seasick. A little bit of ginger and my stomach is completely settled.

Bring your water to a boil, then let cool for about two minutes. Pour the hot water into the cup and steep the tea for ten minutes.
Add Honey and enjoy
To make the sandwich you will need:
Cream Cheese (room temp)
Cucumber (peeled)
Bread of choice
First rinse the watercress and remove the stems from the leaves. Watercress has a peppery taste, and is a member of the cabbage family. It also has a significant amount of iron, calcium and folic acid, in addition to vitamins A and C.
Remove the crusts from the bread, and spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each slice
Thinly slice the cucumber and arrange it on the bread
Place the watercress leaves on top and close the sandwich. Slice the sandwich on the diagonal.

I know this is a day late ^-^;; I plan on doing this every monday. I'd like to give detailed reviews of each Anime that I watch. I really enjoy Anime, and hope that you do as well.

The week I'm watching some really cute shows:
Super Gals is about Ran Kotobuki, the self proclaimed "world's greatest" gal. The whole series is about her misadventures with her friends Miyu Yamazaki, Aya Hoshino, Rei Otahata, and Yuya Aso. I really enjoy the energy of the show, and how upbeat it is for the most part. It also give cute galspeak lessons, and "ironclad" rules for gals. Overall This show is very enjoyable. I would highly recommend watching this in Japanese with subs rather than the English dub, as I personally find some of the English voices to be very off character and distracting. There are a total of 52 episodes in this series.

Ojamajo Doremi
This series is about an elementary schooler, Doremi, who wanders into a magic shop and accidentally discovers a real witch. The witch, Majo Rika, is turned into a frog and to change back she has to make Doremi a witch aprentice. Doremi is very clumsy and not that good at magic which earns her the title of Ojamajo, loosely translated it means bothersome witch. She is found out by her two friends by the end of the second episode, and they end up joining her in becoming witches. This show ran on Fox kids for a while, but the English dub is very very watered down and highly edited, so please watch this subbed. It's a very good show to get younger siblings or newbies interested in Anime. Ojamajo Doremi is a very sweet and again high energy show. While I really enjoyed it Ojamajo Doremi is geared mainly towards a younger audience. So far only the first and second season have been subbed, but the third season is expected to be complete by the end of 2010. There are a total of four season of this show and two movies.

Cardcaptor Sakura
One day Sakura Kinomoto discovers a book, The Clow, in her father's study. It's filled with magic cards which she accidentally releases into the world. The books guardian gives her a key and charges her with returning all the cards back to the book with the help of her friend Tomoyo Daidouji. This show is a definite must watch for any anime fan. Do not watch the English Dub! It is bowdlerized to the point of being unwatchable. Please watch this in Japanese with subs. This show contains 70 episodes and two movies.

That's it for Animonday. I hope that you will enjoy these shows, and if you'd like to recommend a show for next Animonday please leave it in the comments section.
